Cayla da Silva Speech and Language Therapy will create a confidential document to record all necessary information during your child’s Speech and Language Therapy program. All records of personal information will be kept secure and confidential in accordance with the guidelines set out by the Health Professions Council of South Africa. Records will be kept in both electronic and paper format. Electronic records will be safeguarded by passwords. 

No information that is expressed with Cayla da Silva Speech and Language Therapist will be shared unless: 

• The parent and/ or legal guardian agrees in writing that information regarding the child can be shared with other individuals associated to the education and health care of the child, including school, medical physician, paediatrician, specialist of any other health care professional. 

• Medical aids require Cayla da Silva Speech and Language Therapist to provide certain information to medical aids.

• Cayla da Silva Speech and Language Therapist receives an order from court and is obliged to disclose information. 

• Communication with the referring health professional is shared, with it being in the best interest of the child. 

• When specific laws make it compulsory for Cayla da Silva Speech and Language Therapist to report situations such as child abuse or neglect.
